About the event
Tomáš Král, bariton
Giuseppe Guarrera, piano
Many Czech composers’ music simply cannot be imagined without traditional song as a source of inspiration. Baritone Tomáš Král has proven himself in this repertoire with two acclaimed recordings on the Czech label Supraphon. You will also hear some of the highly regarded art-songs by Vítězslava Kaprálová, a student of Martinů who died at the young age of 25 years. The link to Gustav Mahler is interesting in two ways, since the composer was born in Bohemia, grew up in Moravia and later became one of the most important international musicians of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
For reasons beyond our control, the pianist Matan Porat has been replaced by Giuseppe Guarrera.
Pieces by Leoš Janáček, Bohuslav Martinů, Gustav Mahler et Helen Buchholtz.
